The Child Adoption Process
The adoption process starts by filing a petition with the court which includes a multitude of information concerning you (and your spouse if that applies) and the minor child you wish to adopt. There are also certain qualifications a person must meet before petitioning for adoption of a minor child. Also, the rights of the natural parents of the minor child must either be terminated or relinquished by consent. And a preplacement assessment will also need to be completed within time constraints before any hearing on the adoption.
Ultimately, this process could take up to several months or longer depending on the circumstances of your case. Schedule a consultation to see if we can help you adopt your loved one.
